Due to climate change, there are deaths of more than 25,000 goats this winter in Kashmir. Hence, we anticipate that there will be a shortage of this precious wool.

Si vous repérez une vente de foulards en pashmînâ, RAMASSEZ-LES TOUS! Dû aux changements climatiques causant ainsi la mort de plus de 25 000 chèvres cet hiver au Cachemire indien, nous prévoyons qu’il y aura une pénurie de cette laine précieuse d’ici sous peu.

With 90 cm of snow, one of the heaviest snowfalls in 50 years, it has blocked all access roads to bring food in order to feed these animals. Thus, goats were starved to death. This event has jeopardized the production of scarves in which they are in high demand.Why this cashmere wool is so popular around the world?  The mere fact, that fiber is known for its softness and warmth; also, many others refer to it as “the gold fiber”. This is not surprising. According to Parvaiz Bukhari’s article, about 50 tons of wool are produced in the region of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, close to China.

Les chèvres sont mortes de faim, mettant ainsi en péril la production des écharpes en forte demande. Pourquoi cette laine est si prisée dans le monde entier? Par le simple fait qu’elle est reconnue pour sa finesse au toucher tout en vous gardant au chaud. Aussi, plusieurs la surnomment l’or en fibre. Ce n’est pas étonnant, selon l’article de Parvaiz Bukhari, qu’environ 50 tonnes de pashmînâ sont produites dans la région du Ladakh, dans l’État du Jammu et au Cachemire près de la Chine.

People wonder why some shops sell its luxury pashmina scarves for only $10-20. It is simply because they contain a very small percentage of the real cashmere wool. Otherwise, they may contain a greater amount of this wool but in a poor quality. There are two criteria that contribute to the high prices of its sumptuous pashmina shawls.1. The wool must be taken from the neck of the goat because it is the most soft 2. The higher the altitude the goats live in, the better the wool produced in order to fight against the cold.

Sinon, ils peuvent en contenir une plus grande quantité, mais d’une qualité médiocre. Il existe deux critères qui contribuent au prix élevé :1. La laine doit être prélevée sur le cou des chèvres, car c’est la partie la plus douce. 2. Plus les chèvres vivent en haute altitude, plus elles produisent une laine de meilleure qualité afin de lutter contre le froid.
